Description:
Fragments of glyphs is an experimental design activity for deconstructing Chinese characters, The design concept comes from by pasted carved fonts. In the experiment, I shredded and deconstructed the Chinese characters pasted on the wall, causing them to randomly fall and form fragmented combinations, presenting a brand new image of Chinese characters. The random entanglement between the fragmented forms and strokes of these Chinese characters creates a sense of unfamiliarity and texture. Although these Chinese characters are difficult to recognize directly after fragmentation, they still retain their essential characteristics as "characters". I try to hide or even eliminate the readability and functionality of Chinese characters in order to find new forms of expression. These fragmented glyphs and strokes can stimulate the imagination of viewers to "Stroke combination" and "Group words", reflecting some current phenomena related to text memory and expression.
