Competition Details

Eligibility

The competition is open to designers from all regions and countries. (The competition can be registered jointly by design executors(companies) and institutes serviced by those executors (including organizations, companies and related institutes).

Design Categories

Taiwan International Poster Design Award:

  1. Specific Topic:Human Concerning, Sustainable Development (including Environment Protection, Energy Conservation and Carbon Reduction). (Type A)
  2. Non-specific Topic: Commerce, Arts, Public Welfare and Purpose Popularization. (Type B)
  3. All entries must be created after January 1, 2021.

Taiwan International CI Design Award:

  1. Corporate Identity: Brand, logo and other series of design works for companies and institutions. (Type C)
  2. Event Identity: Logo and series of design works for commercial campaigns/events. (Type D)
  3. All entries must be created after January 1, 2021.

  1. All entries need to be registered online.
  2. Upload the description of the design concept, max. 200 words (1,000 characters). (English is the main language, supported by other languages when necessary).

Maximum 3 photos of the same work. Compressed photos can be in jpg formats, of the size W1190*H840 pixels, and resolution above 72 dpi and under 150 dpi. Max 3MB per photo. Please keep the original file by yourself.

  1. Registration:all registration must be performed online.
    1-1 Participants should proceed to the official website(www.tigda.org.tw)to register an account. Once the required information is filled in, the system will automatically send out an “account confirmation notice” to the registrant’s email account.

    1-2 Once the participant successfully receives his/her account, he/she can log in and upload design sketches (max. 3 pieces per work) before the registration deadline.
    1-3 The registration is considered complete once the sketches and the description of the design concept are uploaded and “the Statement of Intellectual Property Rights and Notification for the Collection, Processing, and Use of Personal Information” is agreed. The system will automatically send a “notice of successful registration” to the registrant’s email account.
       Note1:In order to ensure all information is delivered, please use a frequently used email account. All information regarding the competition will be sent  to this email account.
       Note2: All files must be uploaded in jpg format, of the size W1190*H840 pixels, and 3MB or smaller.
       Note3:The name of the author or the company or other markings that may influence the fairness of selection should not appear on the entries. Those who fail to obey this rule will be disqualified.
            Note4: Works should not be registered across categories.
  2. Inspection of Qualifications:
    Related information of submitted works will be inspected, including qualifications, documents, format of entries and etc.
  3. Preliminary Selection :
    In order to reduce waste caused by printing or mailing the entries, reception of entries and the preliminary selection will be conducted via our digital system. Participants do not need to submit physical sketch boards.
  4. Final Selection:
    4-1. Selection will be performed by reviewing the actual works. Detailed specifications to be submitted are as follows:

    Submit works
    1. 2 copies of printing or color print-outs (2 copies should be submitted for each work).
    2. The size of the work needs to be between 36.4cm x 51.5cm ~180cm x 120cm.
    Entry Label Criteria:

    3. Each work must state its title, description, and name of the designer and the company.
    4. The label should be posted on the lower right side of the back of the work.

    Submit works
    1. Please put the identity system and the work on an A3 form (29.7cmx42cm). Please arrange the work in vertical order. 4 pages are maximum.
    2. Actual work may be submitted.

    3. Each work must state its title, description, and name of the designer and the company.
    4. The label should be posted on the lower right side of the back of the work.

    Note: To avoid damage during transportation, please firmly pack all your works.

    4-2. Submission of works:
        Works should be received by mail before September 22, 2023(based on the postmark).
        To ensure the legibility of works, please mark the category on the objects and packages sent.

Selection Process

Principle for Judge Panel

  1. The organizer shall select local and international experts as the judge panel according to the competition categories.
  2. The international judge panel for each category will consist of experts who come from more than two global regions or countries. Gender Balance is considered.
  3. The organizer reserves the right to change the members of the judge panel in case of illness or unforeseeable circumstances.

Judging Criteria

  1. “Taiwan International Poster Design Award”: Creativity, completeness of composition, and stringency.
  2. “Taiwan International CI Design Award”: Commercial value, authenticity, and delivery of the topic.

Method of Selection

  1. Inspection of Qualifications: Related information of submitted works will be inspected, including qualifications, documents, format of entries and etc.
  2. Preliminary Selection: In order to reduce waste caused by printing or mailing the entries, reception of qualified entries and the preliminary selection will be conducted via our digital judge system. The judge panel evaluates the works through digital files sent.
  3. Final Selection: Selection will be performed by reviewing the actual works.
  4. The list of award winners should reflect the judge panel’s final decision and does not change according to any third party's intervention in the judge panel and participants.

  • Silver Award (2 persons): Medal
  • Bronze Award: (2 persons): Medal
  • Youth Award: (2 persons): Medal (for participants under 35 years old)
  • Judge Panel Special Award (each members of the judge panel selects one winner): Medal
  • All award winners will receive an award certificate(in addition to the winners of the medal). Their works will be exhibited and collected in a special publication.

Note:If Grand Prize and Gold Award winners are unable to attend the awards exchange activities, subsequent winners will be invited to the exchange activities in the host country. In case of entry restrictions on foreign nationals due to force majeure or other major accidents, the organizer will announce the form of exchange activities separately. The organizer reserves the right to make final modifications, changes, interpretations, and cancel the exchange activity.


Application of Awarded Works:

  1. The awarded works will be collected in the “Taiwan International Graphic Design Award” publication.
  2. The awarded works will be published on the “Taiwan International Graphic Design Award” website and relevant publications.
  3. The awarded works will be exhibited in exhibitions relating to the plan promotion by Department of Commerce, Ministry of Economic Affairs.

 

Participation Terms

     1.Please provide design works according to the given specifications. Participants are also required to read the selection rules carefully and must abide by all requirements prescribed in this competition guide and bylaws.

    2.Registration for this competition is free of charge; there is no fee for inclusion of works in the winner's exhibition and the content publication.

    3.All submitted works must have an entry label written in English for the convenience of foreign members of the judge panel.

    4.Participants must agree with the content of the “Statement of Intellectual Property Rights and Notification for the Collection, Processing, and Use of Personal Information,” declaring that their works do not infringe upon other parties' intellectual property rights.

    5.The organizer and the implementer reserve the right to use the submitted works for all kinds of publicity, touring exhibitions, publications, or commissioned publications without additional payment; however, this use should not interfere with other commercial uses and applications.

    6.Design works of members of the judge panel or works that belong to their respective companies should not be registered for this competition.

    7.Participants are responsible for all costs arising from the delivery of their works for the final selection (including but not limited to shipping fees and custom duties). Participants are also responsible for the relevant declaration procedures. The organizer and the implementer are not responsible for paying related costs. In order to avoid extended period of time for clearing customs, causing delay in delivery, it is advised not fill in more than USD$50 value of the entry works.

    8.Participants failing to send or submit the actual works and electronic files required for the final selection before the deadline will be disqualified.

    9.If the following is found, eligibility of the entry will be cancelled and legal liabilities should be imposed on the participant:
   9-1.The work was completed and published before January 1, 2021.
   9-2.Plagiarism.
   9-3.The work is inconsistent with the eligibility.

   10.Award winners will be contacted by the implementer to provide files and information for exhibition and publication purposes. To comply with international competition regulations, additional files and actual works may also be needed. If award winners would like to apply for the return of actual works, please contact the implementer, and the transportation fee have to be paid by the award winners.

   11.The work name, unit name, and designer name displayed in the special issue of the event, award certificate, and trophy are mainly based on the information provided by the participants in the registration system. If participants apply for change in the work name, unit name, or designer name, they should bear the costs of changes in the certificates and trophies. Once the award winners are announced, no information can be changed, including website announcements and special issues.

   12.For issues that arise after the completion of this guide, the implementer is responsible for making corrections or additions when necessary and announcing all details on the official website.
